Ingredients
½ onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp tomato paste
4 cups water
1 tbsp chicken base
1 tbsp beef base
1 tsp kitchen bouquet
1 bay leaf
⅓ cup red wine
Preparation
Step 1
Saute the onion and garlic in the butter over medium heat until the onion has yellowed. Reduce heat to low, add the tomato paste, and simmer for ~10 minutes.
Step 2
Add the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and add the chicken base, beef base, kitchen bouquet, and bay leaf. Simmer for 1½ to 2 hours.
Step 3
Strain and add the red wine. Simmer for ~10 minutes. Pour sauce over steak/meat and serve!
