Ingredients

2 cups flour

~5 cups sugar

½ tsp salt

2 sticks butter

1 cup water

½ cup vegetable oil

6 tbsp cocoa

2 eggs

1 tsp baking soda

½ cup buttermilk

2 tsp vanilla extract

5 tbsp milk

Preparation

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour, 2 cups of sugar, and salt.

Step 2

In a saucepan, heat 1 stick of butter, water, vegetable oil, and 3 tbsp cocoa. Bring to a boil, pour over the flour mixture, and beat/mix for 2 minutes.

Step 3

Add the eggs, baking soda, buttermilk, and 1 tsp vanilla. Beat/mix for 2 more minutes. Pour mixture into a greased 15½” x 10½” jelly roll pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 20-25 minutes.

Step 4

Make the icing. Over low heat, melt 1 stick of butter, 3 tbsp cocoa, and 5 tbsp milk. Do not boil; just melt together. When all melted, beat/mix it together with ~3 cups of sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.

Step 5

Let the cake cool, then frost, serve, and enjoy!
